Devastator Centurions are a Space Marine very bulky infantry unit with massive armaments. (Only with Specialist Pack DLC)
Description[]
Devastator Centurions pound their enemies with a remorseless, relentless rain of fire. Bloody havoc is wrought upon anything that falls within the Centurions' targeting reticules. The pilots' marksmanship is augmented by the grim machine spirits of their warsuits, decimator protocols guiding servo-assisted recoil absorption and oracular auto-targeting to ensure the Centurions maintain a punishing rate of fire. Return fire is a futile gesture, akin to flinging stones at a fortress, for should the enemy launch an assault in an attempt to silence the Devastator Centurions' guns they must contend with the suits' massive strength and the pilots' skill at arms.

General Tips and Strategy[]
Devastator Centurions are the Marine's city eliminators. Rushing research to unlock this infantry unit is a smart choice if playing against the other factions who can create multiple cities and fan out across the map. These absolutely awesome units do best when moving in a group with some healers like Apothecaries or a Chaplain behind them that they can retreat to and heal. They also pair very well with the Improved Frag Casing, Omniscope and Devastator Doctrine research. These are all research that will improve their damage against all targets. The improved frag casing is especially useful at helping the Centurions take out enemy units with multiple targets. These units also don't have any noted traits for this, but they excel at dealing high amounts of damage to flying units.
The Devastator Marines are tanky enough that they can take around 1 direct hit from major enemy units or a few attacks from small infantry units. Taking any significant damage from major sources will severely diminish their counter attack. With only 3 characters in the unit, major damage will quickly cut them down to 1 Marine left standing, leaving minimal damage to deal in return. Leaving an open route for the wounded Marines to retreat out of range or a transport vehicle they can reach will save the unit for healing later and keep you from having to create new Devastator Marines.
Another very effective tactic if you have the orbital drop research is to keep the Devastator Centurions in the city until you've discovered an enemy city with any other units, then deploy the Centurions in a cluster right around the city. They will take overwatch fire from any units stationed there, but if the city is of a lower level, around 6-7 shots max will removed the enemy city from the map. This is also true of enemy heavy units like Ad Mech Knights, Tau Stormsurges, and Ork Gigantic Squiggoths or Gorkonaughts. Beware of the counterattack from larger units when deploying initially, try and trigger overwatch with other smaller units if you can sacrifice anything.
Land Raiders or Stormraven gunships make for great transports for deploying groups of the Devastator Centurions at the point of action. These transports can also serve as cover for injured Centurions.
