Razorback is a Space Marine tank unit that transports infantry. (Only with Assault Pack DLC)

Description[]

The Razorback rolls into battle with its weapons charged and ready to fire. Its determined crew slam their vehicle through obstacles and over wreckage, keeping pace with the Adeptus Astartes' advance. Meanwhile, inside the vehicle's transport bay, its passengers ready themselves for the battle ahead.

Strategy[]

A cheap tier one transport that adds a decent amount of anti infantry firepower and with enough armour and hit points to safely move units to and from the front lines in the early to mid game. Consider skipping over razorbacks on smaller maps, or if you are focusing on getting a lot of tactical marines and other infantry early. The low transport capacity makes it hard to sustain a sizable amount of razorbacks to transport large infantry groups. On larger maps or if you are not focusing on getting lots of infantry early the razorback can be key to keeping a few squads of infantry alive and where they need to be.

Against AI opponents and neutral units a razorback can absorb a good amount of small arms firepower from overwatch attacks before dropping off its payload for surgical alpha strike attacks. As units can attack after disembarking. Its important to remember that units can't embark and disembark on the same turn. Four movement compared to your tactical marine's three movement may not seem like that much of a difference but in the early game the extra point of movement is often the key to a successful attack or retreat.

Four Tactical squads in two razorbacks can be an effective recon in force group able to take out low armoured foes, secure outposts, and scout the map. But should retreat if faced with high damage armour piercing weapons or high armoured targets.
